Birds of a feather cluck together
It’s the time, after their first year of laying, that your hens lose some of their old, damaged feathers and grow beautiful new plumage ready for winter.
Some chickens drop just a fistful of feathers, while some look almost plucked for cooking. Growing new feathers takes a huge amount of energy, and feathers are 85% protein, which means you aren’t likely to get many eggs for a while.
My Zen Hen chicken treats mean the ladies lay for longer as they go into molt, can regrow a fantastic plume of feathers, and are pumped and primed to start laying again as quickly as possible.
